Itinerary:
1. Argentine Military Cemetery (1.5 hours)
Our tour begins with a scenic drive from Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands, to the Argentine Military Cemetery, located on East Falkland. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to soak in the picturesque landscapes, witnessing stone runs, the majestic Battlefield mountains, the military base, and iconic dug holes. Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the significance of these historical sites.
The Argentine Military Cemetery is a solemn place, home to the remains of 237 Argentine combatants who lost their lives during the 1982 Falkland Islands conflict. Additionally, there are 123 unknown fatalities. In 2017, DNA testing was conducted to identify those whose names were unknown, adding a powerful layer of remembrance and closure to this site.
2. Goose Green Battlefield (Visit)
Following our visit to the cemetery, we'll make our way to Goose Green, another significant battlefield from the Falklands conflict. Here, you'll get a sense of the challenges and sacrifices made during this historic event. After a brief stop, we will begin our journey back to Stanley.
3. Stanley City Tour (1 hour)
As we return to Stanley, we'll treat you to a guided tour of the city's main attractions, including:
Christ Church Cathedral, a stunning architectural gem that adds to Stanley's unique skyline.
The Whalebone Arch, a symbolic monument representing the islands' history of whaling.
Various other monuments and landmarks that reflect the local culture and history.
Tour Conclusion:
